Brownies are always a good idea, and this one bowl brownie recipe does not disappoint. They are just perfect and so amazing.

Lots of chocolate make the brownies so chewy and delicious. I love making brownies and peanut butter fans will also like Reese’s Pieces Brownies.

This Easy Brownies 9×13 recipe is a family favorite. All the Ingredients are mixed in one bowl and then poured in a 9×13 pan. The ingredients are simple pantry ingredients for the best brownie recipe.

Why We Love This

This recipe for homemade brownies is so easy and costs very little to make. It tastes better than a boxed brownie mix.

You will love how easy it is to make homemade fudgy brownies. Anyone can easily make these from scratch with just a few pantry ingredients.

The brownies are full of fudgy, chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe - sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, flour, salt, baking powder, eggs, melted butter.
  • Brown Sugar and white sugar. The blend of brown sugar and granulated sugar combine for the perfect brownie.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder. Try Dutch-process cocoa powder. I like Hershey’s brand.
  • All Purpose Flour. Spoon the flour instead of scooping into the measuring cup. This will prevent too much flour from being packed into the cup.
  • Large Eggs. Room temperature eggs help the batter to combine and bake evenly.
  • Melted Butter. Use real butter for the best flavor.

The entire ingredient list is at the bottom of the post.

Variations

  • Chocolate Chips. Try using Dark Chocolate Chips in the batter instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Peanut Butter. You can swirl peanut butter in the batter or try using peanut butter morsels.
  • White Chocolate Chips. Try White Chocolate Chips in the batter.
  • Frosting. Top the brownies with chocolate frosting or this delicious Vanilla Buttercream frosting.
  • Powdered Sugar. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the brownies. This looks so pretty.
  • Nuts. Add nuts to this brownie recipe. Choose from walnuts, peanuts, pecans or anything you prefer.

Expert Tips

  • Use a Good Pan – Make sure you have a good pan to make the homemade brownie recipe in. We used a 9×13 pan and they turned out great.
  • Line baking pan with parchment paper – I also like to use parchment paper when I bake. It helps make clean up easy.
  • Use a Wire Rack – If you don’t have a wire rack, they are so handy to help cool the brownies completely if you plan to take them out and then cut them. I would definitely pick up a set if you don’t have any. They will get used a lot if you bake.
  • Combine Ingredients – When mixing the ingredients together, don’t over mix the brownie batter.
  • Don’t over bake – Be careful to not over bake the brownies. This will make them lose their delicious fudgy consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add nuts?

Yes, you can stir in nuts in the brownie mixture. If there is someone that doesn’t like nuts in their brownies, you can always top one side of the brownies with nuts. This way everyone is happy.

Here are some of our suggestions:
Walnuts
Pecans
Almonds

Should I use a Metal or Glass Pan?

You can use either a metal pan or glass pan. Most people like baking in a metal pan because the brownie edges get a crispy edge. My kids like the middle part of the brownie, but I prefer to have that crispy edge.

If you prefer to you a glass plan, you might need to bake it a few minutes longer.

Can I use a Smaller Pan?

Yes, if you want a thicker brownie you can use a smaller pan. Try using a 7×11 inch pan or a 8×12 inch pan. Just remember you will need to cook the brownie a little longer.
