Pro Tips

  • Nutmeg or Cloves. If you would like to add additional fall spices to these bars, you can add a teaspoon of nutmeg or cloves.
  • Enjoy room temperature or warm. These bars can be served at room temperature. You can also pop them in the microwave for about 25 seconds to soften them up.
  • Cinnamon Sugar. For a little extra sweetness, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of the rice krispie treats.
  • Use Parchment paper to press the mixture. Gently press the mixture into the baking dish with parchment paper. This will help it not to stick to your hands. Another tip is to spray your hands with nonstick spray.
  • Prevent soggy rice krispie treats. There are a couple of culprits for soggy Rice Krispie Treats. The cereal may be stale. It is important to use fresh cereal. Another reason is using too much butter. This will make the final product soggy. Make sure that you use exact measurements.
  • Prevent hard rice krispie treats. Melting the marshmallows too fast will result in hard rice krispie treats. You need to melt the marshmallows slowly according to the instructions. Also, do not pack the mixture into the baking dish and press too firmly. This can also result in hard Rice Krispy Treats.
