How to Make Snickerdoodle Puppy Chow

  • Step 1 – Melt the chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.  Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted. Stir in 1 tsp of the ground cinnamon into the melted white chocolate.

Step 2 – Coat the cereal. Place the cereal in a large bowl.  Once the melted white chocolate is ready, pour over cereal and stir until the cereal is fully coated with the white chocolate.

Step 3. Mix together the powdered sugar and cinnamon. Pour the powdered sugar and the remaining ground cinnamon in a large ziplock bag.  Seal and shake to combine the 2 ingredients.

Step 4. Then add the cereal mixture into the ziplock bag and shake.  Make sure to seal the plastic bag and shake to thoroughly coat the cereal with the sugar and cinnamon.

Step 5. Then spread the mixture onto a large baking sheet and allow the chocolate to set.  Then the powder chow is ready to serve and enjoy! 

Recipe Tips

  • Chocolate – You can use almond bark instead of white chocolate chips if you prefer in this recipe.  
  • Melting Chocolate – Make sure that you heat the white chocolate just until it melts.  Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.  It is best to melt the chocolate in intervals so it does not burn.
  • Cool puppy chow – Allow the chocolate to set before storing. It is important that you give the mixture ample time to set. Don’t skip the allotted time on the baking sheet.

How Long Will Puppy Chow Last

As long as it is stored properly, it will last up to 2 weeks. My kids eat this pretty fast so it never lasts long around our house.
