Step By Step Instructions

Step 1. Get the berries ready. Wash, dry and slice them.

Step 2. You will need a muffin tray to place the cups in. Insert the plastic cups slanted in the muffin tin. Then place something under the cups so they remain at an angle. I like to use a ball of aluminum foil, but you can use anything you have.

Step 3. Next, use a large pot to boil 2 cups of water. Remove from the heat and stir in 2 boxes of Jello. Add 2 cups of cold water into the mixture.

Step 4. Once combined, pour the jello into the cups until they are 2/3 full.

Step 5. Add 4-5 strawberry slices into the jello before it sets. Refrigerate at least 3 hours to set.

Step 6. Finally, boil 1 cup of water. Remove from heat and mix in the last packet of strawberry jello mix. Add 1 cup of cold water and stir. Let this cool but you do not want it to fully set.

Step 7. Once cool, add 8 ounces of the Cool Whip.

Step 8. Combine until smooth.

Step 9. Place the cupcakes upright. Then divide the strawberry mousse layer into each cup.

Step 10. Place in the fridge to allow the top layer to set. This should take about 1 hour to chill. When ready to serve, use the remaining whipped topping to garnish. Add a dollop of plain cool whip to each cup. Top with fresh strawberries for the perfect dessert.
Storage
Store in the refrigerator up to 4 days. Wait to add the topping and sliced berries until ready to serve.
Pro Tips
- Allow to set. The first layer needs to be completely set before adding the second layer.
- Layers. You don’t have to slant the cups if you prefer not to. It will still taste the same but without the tilted layers.
- Garnish when serving. Wait to top with the cool whip and berries until ready to serve.
- Berries. Garnish with whole strawberries instead of slices if desired.
- Different variations. Try other flavors of jello and fruit. I love to use raspberry jello and fresh raspberries. Pineapple is also a tasty idea for more easy dessert recipes. Try red and green jello for Christmas.
- Sprinkles. Jazz up the dessert for special occasions with fun sprinkles on top. Pink sprinkles would be pretty for Valentine’s Day for fancy jello desserts.
- Bowls or Cups for serving. We used cups but you can also use small bowls or ramekins.
