  • Jello. Swap the strawberry jello for any variety you like. Some ideas include raspberry, peach, pineapple and more.
  • Fruit. Crushed pineapple or pineapple chunks, peaches, mandarin oranges all make great options.
  • Nuts. If you like nuts, fold them into the recipe when you add the marshmallows. Pecans, almonds and walnuts work great and add a nice crunch.

Storage

This salad is best served the day before serving it.  Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for 2-3 days.

Pro Tips

  • Cook and Serve Pudding is best. Do not use instant vanilla pudding mix in the recipe. The results will not be the same with instant pudding mix.
  • Don’t prepare more than a day in advance. The mixture will become runny if made too far ahead.
  • Reduce the chill time. If you are short on time, place the mixture in the freezer to reduce the time instead of the fridge.
  • Cool-Whip is best. I do not suggest Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe in this recipe. It does not hold up as well.
