Storage

Store the leftovers in an air-tight container or bag at room temperature for up to 2-3 weeks.

Make sure the acorns have completely set before storing. The chocolate should be totally dry.

Can You Freeze?

Freeze up to 6 months. Place the acorns in an airtight freezer-safe container. Make sure that the container is large enough to hold them all without breaking any cookies.

Expert Tips

  • Melt the chocolate in intervals. Make sure that you melt the chocolate in intervals, so it does not burn. Stir thoroughly in between each one.
  • Allow the chocolate to set. Place in the freezer so the chocolate hardens and sets. This step is important to the final outcome of the acorns.
  • Line the baking sheet. Clean up will be easier if you line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Don’t use too much chocolate. You want to use enough chocolate to get the pieces to stick but not so much that you have excess.
  • Freeze to help set. Don’t skip placing the acorns in the freezer to help them set.
