  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Cornstarch

How to make apple pie with cinnamon rolls:

  • Warm up the oven. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a pie pan with a non-stick cooking spray. Oven times may vary so you may need to adjust the oven to 375.
  • Cut the cinnamon rolls. Open the cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside. Then cut each of the cinnamon rolls in half (to make 2 thinner cinnamon rolls).  Sprinkle flour on a working surface and use a rolling pin to roll out the cinnamon rolls with flour to make them thin.
  • Start to layer the casserole dish. Layer the bottom of the baking dish with the cinnamon rolls to create the cinnamon roll crust. Then bake for 5-7 minutes to cook the bottom crust slightly.

  • Allow to cool. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature.
  • Drizzle with frosting. Once the pie is cool, drizzle with the frosting that came in the cinnamon roll packages.

What apple makes the best pie?

Granny Smith Apples are most commonly used to make pie. This is due to the firmness of the apples.

This type of apples hold up well during baking. They do not get mushy after cooking.

What is apple pie a la mode?

It is pie served with ice cream. This is our favorite way to enjoy pie.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Cinnamon Rolls. This recipe uses store bought canned cinnamon rolls. We used the original Pillsbury for this recipe and it worked great. However, feel free to use store brand or what you prefer.
  • Apples. You can use a combination of apples but we prefer Granny Smith. They hold up well to baking and provide the perfect amount of tartness. It balances out the sweetness of the cinnamon rolls.
