Variations
- Substitution for Honey – We love the sweetness of the honey, but you can also use brown sugar or maple syrup.
- Oil Options – You can use Coconut oil or butter to pan fry the bananas. I prefer butter over hot oil.
- Air fryer method – If you prefer to use the air fryer instead of the stove, you can. First, melt the butter using the microwave and add the seasonings. Coat the bananas. Place in the air fryer basket for 4 minutes at 400 degrees in a single layer.
- Add Nuts – Feel free to top the fried bananas with chopped peanuts or sliced almonds.

Storage
Refrigerated: Store leftover fried bananas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
Reheating: Warm gently in a skillet or microwave until heated through.
Freezing: Not recommended, as the texture becomes mushy after thawing.
Pro Tips
- Use firm bananas: Choose bananas that are just ripe and still firm to prevent them from turning mushy while frying. Avoid overripe bananas.
- Caramelize carefully: Fry the bananas until golden brown and caramelized, watching closely to prevent burning or excessive browning.
- Preheat the skillet: Heat the skillet and add butter or oil before adding banana slices to ensure even cooking and a tender center.
- Fry in batches: Avoid overcrowding the pan so each slice cooks evenly and develops a nice caramelized crust.
- Uniform slices: Cut bananas into even slices to ensure consistent cooking.
- Use medium heat: Cook on medium heat to allow the bananas to caramelize slowly without burning.
- Optional toppings: Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, or drizzle with honey for added flavor.
- Serve immediately: Fried bananas are best enjoyed warm for optimal texture and taste.
