This delicious dessert dip is one of my favorite Christmas Desserts to make every year. The kids love it as much as Grinch Cake Pops and Easy Grinch Cookies.

What is Grinch Dip?

Grinch dip is such a fun and easy Christmas dessert dip. It is smooth and creamy thanks to the cream cheese and cool whip mixture blended with the cake mix and more.

The dip is dyed green and topped with red heart sprinkles. It is a fun treat and perfect to enjoy while watching the Grinch. It is tasty served with graham crackers, fruit, cookies and more.

This Christmas dip recipe is the best party dip and always a crowd pleaser. Not only does it taste great, but it looks super festive for a Christmas party.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Grinch dip - cake mix, cream cheese, milk, green food coloring, cool whip.
  • Whipped Topping. You can use Cool Whip or Homemade Whipped Cream.
  • Yellow Cake Mix. You don’t need the other ingredients on the box. Just the dry cake mix.
  • Cream Cheese. Softened before using.
  • Milk. I like to use whole milk, but you can use the type of milk you prefer.
  • Green Food Coloring. This gives the dip the pretty green color to make it festive.
  • Red Heart Shaped Sprinkles. These complete the Grinch look.

How to Make Grinch Christmas Dip

  • Step 1. Microwave the dry cake mix. Place the cake mix in a large microwave safe mixing bowl.  Microwave the cake mix 1 minute and 30 seconds to heat treat the flour.

Step 2. Combine the whipped cream and milk. Add in the whipped topping, cream cheese and milk into a large mixing bowl. Mix with a hand held mixer or stand mixer until well combined.

Step 3. Mix together the food coloring. Add in the green food coloring until the dip is a vibrant green coloring.

Step 4. Allow to chill. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve.  This dip should not sit out too long due to the cream cheese in it.

Step 5. Top with red sprinkles when ready to serve. When serving, pour into a serving bowl, top with the red heart sprinkles and the dip is ready to serve with your favorite dippers!

Serving Suggestions

  • Graham crackers
  • Animal crackers
  • Vanilla Wafers
  • Cookies. Gingerbread cookies, Shortbread cookies, Christmas cookies and more.
  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple
  • Apples
  • Pretzels

Pro Tips

  • Add sprinkles when serving. Do not add the sprinkles until ready to serve. This will prevent them from bleeding into the dip from the moisture when refrigerated.
  • Room temperature ingredients. Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature before mixing. It will be easier to combine and the texture smoother.
  • Make in advance. This dip can be made 1 to 2 days ahead of time. Just wait to add the sprinkles until ready to serve.
  • Gel food coloring. Gel is preferred over regular food coloring. The color is vibrant and the texture less watery.
  • Gradually add food coloring. Slowly add the food coloring until it is the desired shade of green.
