How to Make Grinch Puppy Chow:

  • First, get out a microwave safe large mixing bowl. Combine the green candy melts, peanut butter and the vegetable oil together and microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Second, stir and continue to cook in 15 second intervals until the chocolate and peanut butter mixture is melted and smooth. It is really important to do this in these intervals or you risk burning it and the mixture becoming hard.
  • It took about 60 seconds total for mine but microwaves do vary!
  • Next, put the Chex cereal in a large bowl and Pour the melted peanut butter and melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and quickly stir to coat.
  • Finally, pour the powdered sugar in the gallon ziplock bag.  Add the coated cereal into the gallon bag and seal tightly.
  • Shake to coat the cereal. Kids love to help with this part! Get them involved and let them be a part of the process.
  • After the cereal is well coated, pour onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and let cool.

  • The last step is to sprinkle the red m&ms over the top once the puppy chow is completely cool. Just stir to combine them with the puppy chow.
  • It is important to not rush this last step. If you add the m&m’s too soon while it is not completely cool, the red will melt and not be as pretty.

  • Try adding nuts for a change. Yum!
  • Use red and green m&m candies and you now have Christmas Puppy Chow or Reindeer chow. Perfect for a Christmas Party.
  • Make this for other seasons. We also make Valentine’s Day Puppy Chow Recipe .
  • Change the colors to match baby showers, birthday parties, Game day and more. The ideas are endless.
  • Drizzle with white chocolate or other chocolate chips with peanut butter. The peanut butter and chocolate flavors makes the best puppy chow.
