There is just something about homemade chocolate fudge. It is creamy and so heavenly. I used to think that making fudge was really complicated and I always hesitated to make it.

This 3 ingredient chocolate fudge is my go-to recipe. I can easily change the flavor to make peppermint fudge or top with marshmallows to make rocky road fudge.

Homemade fudge is actually very simple and the results are so delicious. Also try Crock Pot Fudge and Tiger Butter Fudge Recipe.

Why Make this Homemade Fudge:

This recipe for chocolate fudge reminds me of my grandma. The rich chocolate flavor makes this the best old fashioned fudge.

If you are looking for a delicious fudge that is perfect for gifts, this is the treat to make. It is the perfect holiday fudge and for all your dessert trays and it just melts in your mouth.

Variations Ideas:

  • Chocolate Chips – Feel free to change the chocolate chips. You can make this with Milk Chocolate Chips, White chocolate chips or Dark Chocolate Chips.
  • Add Nuts – Nuts are really good in fudge. Add in chopped pecans or walnuts to the fudge mixture.
  • Peanut Butter – Chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite combination. Add a cup of peanut butter to the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk mixture once melted. Stir until everything is well combined to make peanut butter fudge.
  • Peppermint Extract – For peppermint fudge, add in a teaspoon of peppermint extract.

How to Make Chocolate Fudge:

Parchment paper lined pan.

Step 1. Prepare the pan by lining it with parchment paper. It should cover the sides of the baking pan. This will make it easier to lift out of the pan later.

Bowl with chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.

Step 2. Melt the chocolate chips in a large microwave safe bowl. Add the sweetened condensed milk and microwave for one minute.

Spoon in bowl combining mixture.

Step 3. Combine the ingredients as this will help the heat to melt the chocolate chips. I prefer to use a wooden spoon.

Chocolate mixture combined.

Step 4. You can place in the microwave for another 30 minutes if it’s still not melted enough. Finally, add the vanilla extract and stir.

Step 5. Quickly transfer the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan.

Step 7. Lift the fudge out of the pan.

Step 8. Cut into square while it is still cold. I suggest doing this as soon as you take out of the fridge.

Recipe Tips:

  • Candy Thermometer – No candy thermometer needed. The microwave does the work and anyone can make this. It is so easy.
  • Perfect Fudge Tips – Read our 5 Tips to make the perfect fudge recipe for great tips and tricks. If you follow these tips, you will definitely have fudge that turns out great.
  • Freezing Fudge – Make extra to freeze covered in aluminum foil. Just make sure to store the fudge inside an airtight container or freezer bag. I also like to put parchment paper between the fudge to prevent sticking. This will keep up to 3 months if stored properly.
  • Melting Chocolate – Slowly melt the chocolate in the microwave so that it does not burn. You can also heat in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Chill Fudge – Make sure to give time for fudge to firm up in the refrigerator. This is a great dessert to prepare ahead of time.
