Expert Tips

  • Line Baking Sheet – I suggest lining the baking sheet with parchment paper to make cleanup easy. Wax paper is so handy and a big help in the kitchen. I almost always use it when possible. It is worth the expense and saves a bunch of time.
  • Use Lemon Zest – Don’t use lemon juice or lemon extract. Instead of lemon zest as this will cause the chocolate to harden and become clumpy.
  • Melting Chocolate – Be careful when melting the white chocolate as it will burn easily.  Heat in small intervals. Continue to stir and allow the heat from the rest of the candy to melt the remaining candy.
  • Coat the cereal right away –  Don’t let the melted candy coating cool or harden before coating in the cake mix. If you wait too long, it will not stick to the cereal.
  • Seal Bag – When coating the cereal with the powdered sugar, make sure to seal the bag. This ensure that your fully coat the cereal and it doesn’t make a mess.
