Pro Tips

  • Melt the candy in intervals. Be careful when melting the green candy coating as it will burn easily.  Heat in small intervals. Continue to stir and allow the heat from the rest of the candy to melt the remaining candy.
  • Coat the cereal right away. Don’t let the melted candy coating cool or harden before coating in the cake mix. If you wait too long, it will not stick to the cereal.
  • Allow to cool. Don’t store until the puppy chow has set.
  • Use a large bowl. Make sure that your bowl is large enough to mix all of the ingredients, so it does not spill over.
  • Add mix ins when cool. Don’t add the chocolate chips while the mixture is warm or it will melt the chocolate.

Storage

Store in an airtight container up to a week at room temperature or 2 weeks in the refrigerator and enjoy.
