Why We Love This Recipe

It is such a fun treat that can be enjoyed all year round thanks to making them in the oven. It is perfect for a party, family night or just because. Everyone of all ages loves smores.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Oreo s'mores - marshmallows, oreo cookies, chocolate.
  • Oreos. I used regular Oreo cookies and not double stuffed.

Get the complete ingredient list at the bottom of the page.

Variations

  • Oreo Cookies. You can use any Oreo cookie flavor you love. Try Peanut Butter Oreo cookies, Golden Oreos, and more. Chocolate lovers might like the ones with chocolate flavor creme inside for more layers of chocolate. Nabisco also has limited-edition cookies during the year with more marshmallow-flavored creme variations.
  • Chocolate. We used Hershey chocolate but you can use dark chocolate or other types of candy bars. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are delicious if you love peanut butter and chocolate. You can even use Butterfinger, Rolo, and Caramello.
  • Sea Salt. Sprinkle sea salt on these smores for a sweet and salty flavor.
  • Mini Marshmallows. The larger size is easier to work with but you use several of the mini marshmallows if that is what you have in the pantry.
  • Shredded Coconut. Top the marshmallow with coconut for a unique taste.
  • Yummy Ad-ins. Spread peanut butter or Nutella on the bottom of the Oreo when assembling.

How to make Oreo s’mores in the oven

  • Step 1. Turn on the broiler. Preheat the broiler on your oven on high setting. This will help to make each smores cook evenly.
Oreo cookies opened and placed on baking sheet.

Step 2. Place half the Oreo cookies on a prepared baking sheet. Separate the Oreo Cookies and place half of the cookies (cream side up) on a lined baking sheet.

Chocolate and marshmallows added to each cookie.

Step 3. Next, add a piece of chocolate and marshmallows. Top each of the cookies with 2 small pieces of Hershey bars and a large marshmallow.

Marshmallows broiled on the baking sheet.

Step 4. Broil the marshmallows. Place the baking sheet and the oven and bake until the marshmallows are a golden brown caramel color.  Watch them closely as the marshmallows get real toasty fast.

Each one topped with a cookie.

Step 5. Add the remaining cookies on top. Top each cookie with the remaining cookie top and press them down slightly.  Now you can pickup, take a bite and enjoy!

Can you make these in a campfire?

Yes, these can be made over a campfire as well.  This recipe is versatile and easy to make in the oven or campfire. If making these in a campfire, roast the marshmallows just like you would making traditional smores.

Then place in between the Oreo cookies, add chocolate, and enjoy. It is always so much fun to make these over a campfire. Where you call them smoreos or moreos, you can enjoy all year long to the delight of the kids.

Pro Tips

  • Watch the smores closely. The broiler can quickly burn these so do not walk away. It only takes a few extra seconds to burn the marshmallows.
  • Serve these fresh. Oreo Smores are best served right away. If you do have any leftovers, place them inside an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Line the baking sheet. Clean-up is easier if you line the baking sheet with parchment paper. The marshmallows get really sticky so you will be glad you lined the pan.
  • Preheat the oven. Make sure to preheat the oven when broiling these smores. This will ensure they all cook evenly and turn out great.
