Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese. Softened at room temperature so it’s easy to combine.
  • Salted Butter. Always use real butter and make sure it is softened.
  • Salted Caramel Sauce. We used store bought.
  • Powdered Sugar. Remove the lumps in the powdered sugar so the frosting will be smooth.

Step 1. Add the butter and cream cheese to a mixing bowl.

Step 2. Beat on medium-high speed. You can use a handheld or stand mixer to beat until light and fluffy.

Step 3. Next, add the salted caramel sauce and vanilla extract.  Combine together until silky smooth.  

Powdered sugar added to the cream cheese mixture.

Step 4. Finally, gradually mix in the powder sugar until combined using low speed. Mix until the frosting is light and fluffy. Then use a piping bag to pipe the frosting on cupcakes. You can also use the frosting on a layer cake.

Storage

Cover and refrigerate until you are ready to use the frosting.

  • Full Fat Cream Cheese. Make sure to use full fat cream cheese in this recipe. 
  • Room temperature ingredients. The butter and cream cheese should be room temperature. The mixture will combine easier.
  • Don’t overmix the frosting. Beating the mixture too long will make the frosting runny.

  • 4 Tablespoons Salted Butter softened
  • 1/2 cup Salted Caramel Sauce
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Beat together the cream cheese and butter with a hand held or stand up mixer until light and fluffy.
