Ingredients for white chocolate chex mix - pretzels, cheerios, chex cereal, peanuts, M&M's, white baking chips.

Step By Step Instructions

Store at room temperature for up to 3 days or you can freeze for up to 3 months. Make sure to use an airtight container for storage so that it stays fresh. This works great if you need to make it in advance for a party.

If you are planning to give this as gifts, store the Chex mix in cellophane bags. Twist the bags securely together. This makes a great gift.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Christmas Chex Mix – Use Christmas M&M’s for a festive touch of red and green.
  • Pretzels – Any type of pretzels can be used. Try twists, sticks or round pretzels.
  • Nuts – Peanuts make a great addition to this recipe.
  • Cereal – Crispix Cereal also makes a great cereal choice. I have even used Lucky Charms and the kids love the marshmallows.
  • Oil – We used Vegetable oil with the the chocolate but coconut oil works great too.
  • Seasonal – We enjoy this year round for special occasions, holidays and more. You can use any type of seasonal M&M’s to make this extra special. The pastel M&M’s are perfect for Easter.
  • Sprinkles. Add sprinkles in any color to make this festive for holidays and more.

Recipe Tips

  • Don’t overcook the chocolate. It is important that you melt the chocolate in intervals. You do not want to burn it.
  • Allow to set. The mixture needs time to set before storing. Rushing this step can result in a mess and it will be hard to eat later.
  • Use wax paper. Spread the mixture on wax paper while setting to make cleanup easy.
  • Chocolate Coating – You can use white almond bark instead of white chocolate chips in this recipe. If you substitute almond bark, you do not need to add oil when melting.
  • Double the recipe – If you are preparing this for a party, go ahead and double the recipe. It is always a crowd pleaser and goes quickly.
