Cereal poured over baking dish.

Step 3. Pour the cereal on Peeps. Spread the cereal out into a single layer.

Sprinkles spread on top of cereal mixture in baking dish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do Peeps Rice Krispie Treats taste like?

These Peeps Rice Crispy Treats taste like your classic treats. They may taste a little sweeter because the colored peeps are rolled in sugar. But these treats are still full of gooey marshmallow flavor and loved by all.

What are Peeps?

Peeps are a Marshmallow shaped like baby chickens and are made out of soft marshmallows. They are rolled in sugar and their eyes are made of edible wax. They are sold in packs of 5 in fun colors.

Not everyone loves Easter Peeps but when mixed in with Rice Krispie Cereal they make the best treats.

How to Cut Rice Krispie Treats?

They are easiest to cut when taken entirely out of the pan. Place the entire sheet of rice krispies on a cutting board. We recommend placing a piece of parchment paper in the baking dish.

Then use a really sharp knife to cut them into individual slices. It is also helpful to spray the knife with non stick cooking spray. Make sure to wipe it clean to ensure there isn’t any build up.

Another option is to use a pizza cutter to cut the rice krispie treats. Spray the pizza cutter and cut into bars.

Pro Tips

  • Peeps – Bake cereal mixture until peeps are completely melted.
  • Serving – Before serving treats allow them to rest as they will cut easier.
  • Baking Dish – These are best in a 9×13 pan if you prefer thick rice krispie treats. You can half the recipe and make it in a 9X9 pan if you want a smaller batch.
  • Line Baking Dish – You can line the baking pan with parchment paper for easily remove the treats from the pan.
  • Cut into Shapes – We cut these treats into squares, but you can easily use a cookie cutter to cut into shapes.
  • Peeps – Place Marshmallow Peeps in a single layer in the baking dish.
  • Food coloring. For a brighter marshmallow color, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture.
