Step By Step Instructions
You will need to make Rice Krispie treats in 4 different batches for the 4 different colors of Easter eggs.

Step 1. First, melt the butter in the microwave using a large microwave-safe bowl. Add marshmallows and stir until well combined. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until completely melted.

Step 2. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until well combined.

Step 3. Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well-coated. Spread evenly in the prepared pan. Continue the same process 3 more times with the purple, yellow, and blue food coloring.

Step 4. Allow the cereal mixture to cool slightly. Now it’s time to make the Easter eggs. Grab a handful of the melted marshmallow mixture and use your hands to form the Easter eggs. I think it helps to spray your hands with cooking spray.
Storage
Room Temperature: Store treats in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days to keep them soft and chewy.
Avoid Humidity: Keep them in a cool, dry place—too much moisture can make them sticky.
Freezing: Wrap individually in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
Tip: Layer parchment paper or wax paper between treats if stacking to prevent sticking.
Tips For Perfect Easter Egg Rice Krispie Treats
- Work Quickly: Marshmallow mixture sets fast, so work while it’s warm and pliable.
- Grease Hands or Spoon: Lightly butter your hands or a spoon when shaping the eggs to prevent sticking.
- Even Shaping: Use a cookie scoop or small bowl to portion out equal amounts before shaping into eggs.
- Color Mixing: Divide the marshmallow mixture into separate bowls to color each portion, then gently swirl for marbled eggs.
- Add Candy Last: Press in sprinkles, mini eggs, or decorations after shaping to avoid them sinking into the mixture.
- Cooking – Make sure to cook this over low heat. Increasing the heat will result in hard or tough treats that will not be soft like desired.
- Keep at room temperature – Do not store in the refrigerator. They are best left to cool at room temperature so that they remain gooey and delicious!
- Shaping into Eggs – If you have trouble shaping the eggs, try using plastic eggs.
- Fresh Marshmallows. The results are better with fresh marshmallows.
