Ingredients needed - sugar cookie dough, cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, fruit

Ingredients

  • Sugar Cookie Dough. Store-bought sugar cookie dough keeps this recipe quick and easy. You can also use homemade Cookie Dough or your favorite sugar cookie dough. Roll it evenly to create a smooth base for decorating.
  • Cream Cheese. Make sure the cream cheese is softened at room temperature for a smooth, lump-free frosting layer.
  • Butter. Softened butter blends easily with the cream cheese and helps create a rich, creamy topping.
  • Powdered Sugar. Sweetens the frosting while keeping it light and smooth. Sift if needed to avoid any lumps.
  • Variety of Fruits. Strawberries, blueberries, kiwis, mandarin oranges, raspberries, pineapples, blackberries or bananas. Use fresh, firm fruit for the best texture and vibrant color. Pat fruit dry before placing on the frosting to prevent excess moisture from softening the cookie crust.

Variations

  • Brownie Crust: Swap the sugar cookie base for a baked brownie layer for a decadent version.
  • Lemon Frosting: Add a little lemon zest or lemon juice to the cream cheese frosting for a bright spring flavor.
  • Greek Yogurt Swap: Replace part of the cream cheese with vanilla Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • Tropical Version: Top with mango, pineapple, kiwi, and toasted coconut for a tropical Easter dessert.
  • Mini Fruit Pizzas: Cut dough into individual egg shapes before baking for personal-sized treats.
  • Glazed Finish: Brush fruit lightly with warmed apricot jam for a shiny bakery-style look.

Tips For The Best Easter Egg Fruit Pizza

  • Slice Cleanly – Use a sharp knife and wipe it between cuts for clean, bakery-style slices.
  • Shape the Dough Properly – Shape the cookie into an egg before baking for smoother edges or trim it after baking if you prefer.
  • Cool Completely – Allow the cookie to cool fully before frosting to prevent melting and sliding fruit.
  • Choose Fresh, Firm Fruit – Select ripe but firm fruit for the best texture and appearance.
  • Cut Fruit to Fit – Slice fruit evenly and trim pieces to fit neatly inside your egg design.
  • Pat Fruit Dry – Gently dry fruit after washing to prevent excess moisture and sogginess.
  • Whip the Frosting Well – Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to blend the frosting until smooth and fluffy.
  • Spread Evenly – Cover the cookie with an even layer of frosting all the way to the edges so the fruit sticks.
  • Decorate the Same Day – Assemble close to serving time for the freshest flavor and texture.

Storage

Refrigerate Properly – Store leftover Easter Egg Fruit Pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Cover Tightly – If storing on a serving tray, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap to keep the fruit fresh and prevent it from drying out.

Best Within 24 Hours – For the best texture and flavor, enjoy within the first day since the fruit can release moisture and soften the cookie crust.

Avoid Freezing – Freezing is not recommended, as the fresh fruit and cream cheese frosting do not thaw well and can become watery.
