How to make Oreo Peppermint Balls:

- Step 3. Crush the Oreo cookies. Finely crush Oreos in the food processor.
- Step 4. Mix together the cream cheese and other ingredients. Combine cream cheese, crushed candy canes, crushed cookies and peppermint extract until well blended.
- Step 5. Prepare the balls into 1 inch size. Form mixture into 1″ balls and place on a prepared sheet.
- Step 6. Freeze the oreo balls. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Storage:
Refrigerate the leftover peppermint oreo truffles in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Make sure they set completely before storing. Place wax paper in between the layers.
If you store before they have hardened, the balls will stick together and look messy. As long as you allow them to set, they store perfectly.
Can you freeze Oreo Balls?
Yes, this recipe is easy to freeze. Place the balls inside a freezer container separated with wax paper. Freeze up to 3 months.
Thaw before serving. Place in the fridge the night before and allow to thaw.
You can also freeze these balls without the coating. Then dip them when ready to serve. Either option is fine.
This recipe freezes perfectly. It is a great way to save time during the holiday season. See Can you Freeze Oreo Balls for more tips.
Variations:
- Melted Chocolate. Dip the cookies in chocolate chips instead of candy wafers. You can use white chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate. If it is too thick, add coconut oil to the chocolate.
- Sprinkles. Instead of crushed candy canes, add sprinkles to these holiday treats. You still get to enjoy the peppermint flavor inside and the sprinkles will look festive.
- Drizzle on top. Drizzle red and green melted candy melts on top instead of crushed candy.
- Different flavors of Oreo Cookies. Try using other flavors of Oreo cookies. Mint Oreos would give you even more flavor if desired.
- Peppermint Candies. Instead of crushed candy canes, you can substitute peppermint candy.
- Allow excess coating to drip off. Gently tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove excess melted candy melts.
- Melt the candy in intervals. It is important not to walk away from the candy. It needs to be stirred every 30 seconds to prevent burning.
Tips for Success:
- Regular Oreos. We don’t recommend using double stuffed Oreo Cookies. There is too much cream inside and will change the texture of the Oreo Balls.
- Allow to set. Let the coated oreo balls set before serving or storing. They should be completely dry before placing into containers.
- Chill before dipping. It is important to freeze the Oreo Balls before dipping. They will be easier to coat and look smoother.
- Food Processor. It is easiest to make the Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor. This gadget makes it so quick and easy while the cookies are the perfect texture.
- Adjust the consistency. If the mixture is too dry, add a little more cream cheese. If it is too moist, add more cookie crumbs. Combine until it is the desired consistency and texture.
Family and friends will enjoy this easy peppermint infused dessert full of flavor. It is easy to make and tastes amazing. With only a few ingredients, it is effortless.
