Variations

  • Try pudding flavors. Try other flavors of pudding such as cheesecake or white chocolate. You can substitute any type of pudding you like.
  • Homemade whipping cream. Substitute homemade whipped cream instead of store bought cool whip if you prefer.
  • Blend Cream cheese into the mixture. Add softened cream cheese to the mixture for a richer taste in this dessert recipe.
  • Maraschino cherries. For a pop of color and cherry flavor, add cherries to this recipe for pineapple fluff. Drain a jar of maraschino cherries and fold into the ingredients.
  • Nuts. Try other chopped nuts such as walnuts or almonds. We have also used macadamia nuts for a great addition.
  • Pretzels. Chopped pretzel pieces add a nice crunch to the salad and a sweet and salty combination. If using pretzels, wait to stir these in until right before serving. Otherwise, they will get soggy.
  • Cottage Cheese. Substitute part of the whipped cream for cottage cheese. You can also just add a little cottage cheese in addition to the other ingredients. It is really tasty.
  • Marshmallows. Try other flavors of marshmallows. The mini tropical variety is really yummy in this recipe with the pineapple flavor.
  • Omit the coconut. If you do not like coconut, just omit it from the recipe.
  • Other fruits. Instead of pineapple, substitute mandarin oranges, peaches and more.

Serving Pineapple Fluff

While delicious served in a bowl, we have other creative ideas you might want to try.

  • Hollow out a pineapple. Cut a pineapple in half and hollow the fruit. Fill with pineapple fluff and serve for a festive serving idea.
  • Dip. This is a tasty dip for fruit such as apple slices, strawberries and bananas. It is also really tasty using vanilla wafers, graham crackers and golden Oreo cookies for dipping.
  • Cake. Top cake with pineapple fluff. Try pound cake, angel food cake, strawberry cake or yellow cake.
  • Top with Chocolate. If you love chocolate, drizzle chocolate syrup on top before serving or toss in a handful of chocolate chips.

You can also garnish each serving with more coconut, cherries and lots of chopped nuts. It is such an easy recipe but so amazing.

Storage

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.  Make sure to stir it before serving as it may become watery and runny.
