Serving Suggestions

Slice and top each serving with whipped cream. If you have extra berries, add a few for garnish. It will be so pretty!

We prefer to top each serving with whipped cream instead of the entire pie. This makes it easy to store the pie if you don’t plan to serve the entire pie at once.

Storage

Refrigerate the leftovers covered with aluminum foil for up to 4-5 days. Cover with plastic wrap so it will stay fresh.

The pie crust will soften the longer it is in the fridge. We do not recommend freezing this pie. The texture of the jello mixture will change once frozen and thawed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in Strawberry Pie filling?

Simple ingredients make up this pie filling. You will find strawberries, water, sugar, cornstarch and jello.

The cornstarch helps to thicken the strawberry jellom mixture in the pie.

Do you need to cover the pie?

Yes, it is best to wrap the refrigerated pie in plastic wrap. This will keep it fresh and help to avoid the pie absorbing other flavors.

Why is my pie filling watery?

There could be a couple of reasons for watery pie filling. If the mixture did not boil long enough, it may not thicken properly and result in a watery filling.

Another culprit could be now allowing the filling to cool long enough. The recipe is very easy. Just follow precisely for best results.

Can you use frozen strawberries?

No, we do not recommend using frozen berries. They have a lot of extra moisture that will change the texture of the pie. It will be runny and not taste the same.

Fresh is definitely best in this recipe.

How to choose the best berries?

This recipe is best with sweet, ripe strawberries. Try to select berries that do not have any white around the stem. This means that the berries were not picked when they were ripe.

The flavor of the pie is better when you use in season ripe berries.
