Cherry Garcia ice cream is one of our favorite ice cream recipes. It is a popular Ben and Jerry flavor. Everyone goes crazy over this ice cream with cherries and shaved chocolate.

The name originates from a tribute to guitarist Jerry Garcia and also became the ice cream chain’s first flavor to be named after a rock legend. It is one of the Best Cherry Desserts.

I have been making homemade ice cream for years and also make Birthday Cake Ice Cream Recipe , Hot Chocolate Ice Cream and Lemon Shortbread Ice Cream. We love trying new ice cream flavors.

Pro Tips

  • Make sure you use a metal loaf pan when making this ice cream.
  • Start with cold ingredients and cold supplies. The ice cream will freezer quicker if the mixing bowl is cold along with the ingredients. Just pop the bowl in the freezer for about 30 minutes prior to using.
  • You can use a cherry pitter to remove the pits from the cherries or use a straw or skewer to remove the pits from the cherries.  It does not take long and is very simple.
  • Some recipes call for a teaspoon of lemon juice in the ice cream mixture. Feel free to add based on preference.
  • Allow the ice cream to come to room temperature for a few minutes before scooping. This makes it easier than trying to scoop straight from the freezer.

FAQs

How long will it last?

This ice cream will keep in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 months. If you put a sheet of wax paper directly on the ice cream, it will help it to stay fresher. This will prevent ice crystals from forming on top of the ice cream.

Our family loves ice cream so it rarely lasts that long around here. We all eat it fairly quickly.

What kind of cherries are used in Cherry Garcia ice cream?

This ice cream uses fresh cherries in the recipe. Do not substitute this for maraschino cherries as the results will not be the same.

The fresh cherries in this ice cream give the recipe a unique flavor that is so fresh and delicious.
