How To Make Cinnamon Roll Bunnies

  • Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spread the can of cinnamon rolls out onto a large baking sheet.

Step 2. Form the bunny ears. Use your hands to gently unroll the outer end of the cinnamon roll.  Then use that piece of the cinnamon roll to form 2 bunny ears above the remaining roll.  Press down between the ears and on the outside of the ears to secure them to the round portion of the cinnamon roll.

Step 3. Bake them based on the package instructions.  Make sure to watch them as they bake and re-pinch the edges together if they start to spread apart while baking.

Storage

Room Temperature: Store baked Bunny Cinnamon Rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Refrigerator: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Warm slightly in the microwave before serving for a soft, fresh texture.

Freezing: Unbaked shaped rolls can be frozen on a baking sheet, then transferred to a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before baking. Baked rolls can also be frozen for up to 1 month; wrap individually in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe container. Reheat gently before serving.

Variation Ideas

  • Candy: Swap M&Ms for jelly beans to decorate the bunny faces.
  • Chocolate Chips: Use chocolate chips for the eyes and nose if you prefer a chocolatey touch.
  • Cinnamon Roll Dough: Any canned refrigerated cinnamon roll brand works, including store-brand or your favorite brand.
  • Different Flavors: Try adding orange or caramel flavors for a fun twist on the classic cinnamon roll.
  • Frosting: For extra sweetness, top with additional cream cheese frosting.
  • Sprinkles: Use any type or color of sprinkles you like to match the occasion or your pantry.

Pro Tips

  • Lined Baking Sheet: Line the baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • Don’t Overbake: Rolls should be golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center. Baking times can vary, so keep an eye on them.
  • Reinforce the Shape: While baking, check the bunny shapes. If needed, gently adjust them with the handle of a spoon to maintain the ears and body.
  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Make sure the cinnamon rolls and any add-ins (like frosting or M&Ms) are at room temperature for easier handling.
  • Even Spacing: Place rolls evenly on the baking sheet to ensure they bake uniformly.
  • Decorate After Cooling: Add sprinkles, candy, or frosting once the rolls are slightly cooled to prevent melting or sliding off.
