How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
- Step 1. Go ahead and preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Next, place the popcorn in a large bowl.

Step 2. Get out a small saucepan and melt the butter over medium high heat.

Step 3. Once melted, stir in the granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon and salt.

Step 4. Allow to this mixture to come to a boil. Cook until the mixture is thick and bubbly for 5 minutes. Stir every 15 minutes.

Step 5. Pour the cinnamon sugar mixture over the popcorn and toss to coat the popcorn in the mixture.

Step 6. Place popcorn on baking sheets lined with parchment paper or a roasting pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes. You will need to stir the popcorn every 3-4 minutes. Finally, turn the oven off and let the popcorn sit in the oven for 20 minutes. This will allow the popcorn to get crispy.

Step 7. Next, just remove from the oven and allow to cool. Break into pieces and serve in a bowl.

Storage
Store the leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. We love this so it does not last long in our house.
Just make sure the popcorn has cooled completely before storing or it will be a mess to serve.
Expert Tips
- Popcorn Kernels. Remove any unpopped kernels from the popcorn before you coat in the mixture. You don’t want anyone to hurt their teeth!
- Popcorn. We prefer plain popcorn in this recipe. You can use store bought, microwave, stove top or anything you prefer.
- Stir constantly. Make sure to stir the popcorn mixture so it does not burn or stick.
- Toss during baking. Every 3 to 4 minutes, stir the popcorn while baking. This is important and will ensure even baking and that all pieces are crispy.
- Line the baking pan. Cleanup is much easier if you use parchment paper on the sheet pan. The mixture is very sticky and this makes it much easier.
