Ingredients 

Ingredients for recipe - brownie mix, vegetable oil, powdered sugar, pancake mix, eggs, milk.
  • Brownie Mix. Prepared in a 9X13 pan. Plus, ingredients on the box to prepare them.
  • Vegetable Oil. This is for frying the deep fried brownie fritters.
  • Powdered Sugar. I like to sprinkle this generously on top.

Batter

  • Pancake Mix. You can use any brand you love.
  • Egg. I used a large egg.
  • Milk. I prefer whole milk in the batter, but you can use reduced fat if desired.

How to Make Deep Fried Brownies

Step 1. Make the brownies according to the package instructions in a 9X13 prepared baking pan.  Then allow to cool completely once out of the oven.

Step 2. Then remove the hard edges from the brownies. Cut into 24 brownie squares.

Step 3. Roll the brownie pieces into balls. Then refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes.

Step 4. While the oil is heating in the deep fryer, make the batter. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the batter ingredients.

Step 5. Dip the brownie balls into the batter until completely covered.

Step 6. Fry the brownie bites for 2-3 minutes until golden brown in hot oil.  Then place on a lined plate. Garnish with powdered sugar and enjoy.

How to Serve Fried Brownies

Serve the brownies with powdered sugar. Other yummy ideas include No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream, caramel sauce, melted chocolate for dipping and whipped cream.

Storage

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container. They will last up to 3 days in the fridge. Place parchment paper in between them when storing.

Expert Tips

  • Use a cookie scoop. When forming the brownie balls, it is easier if you have a cookie scoop. You can make the balls quickly and they will all be the same size.
  • Chill the brownie bites. Allow the dough to chill at least 30 minutes before frying.
  • Soap up excess oil. Drain excess grease by placing the fried brownies on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Make sure you use enough oil. You need 3 inches of oil in the deep frying pan to fry the brownies.

Instructions

  • Prepare the brownies based on the package instructions in a 9X13 baking pan.
  • Let the brownies cool completely.
  • Then remove the edges from the brownies and cut them into 24 pieces.
  • Roll the brownies pieces into balls and refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes (or until ready to use).
  • Heat 3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot until it is approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the batter ingredients.
  • Dip the brownie balls into the batter until they are fully covered.
  • Place in the heated oil and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.  Work in batches so you do not crowd the pan.
  • Remove from the oil and place on a plate lined with a paper towel to soak up the oil.
  • Sift the powdered sugar on top of the brownies when serving and enjoy!
