Why We Love This Recipe

  • Easy to Make: Uses simple pantry ingredients and comes together quickly.
  • Amazing Texture: Crispy, golden outside with a warm, gooey Oreo center.
  • Fair-Style Flavor: Brings nostalgic carnival treats right to your kitchen.
  • Party Favorite: Perfect for gatherings, holidays, or fun weekend desserts.
  • Crowd Pleaser: Loved by both kids and adults for its irresistible sweetness.

Ingredients

  • Oreo Cookies: We used classic Oreos, but any flavor works great.
  • Pancake Mix: Any pancake mix will do, though homemade pancake mix is our favorite.
  • Egg: Use a room-temperature egg for smoother mixing.
  • Milk: Whole milk gives the richest flavor, but reduced-fat milk also works.
  • Vegetable Oil: Needed to help bring the pancake batter together.
  • Powdered Sugar: Sprinkled on top for the perfect touch of sweetness.

Variations

  • Toppings. Top with Cinnamon and Sugar or drizzle with chocolate syrup or Hot Fudge Sauce. It’s also great with Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe instead of a dusting of Powdered Sugar for a different flavor.
  • Oreo Flavors. I have tried Double Stuf Oreos, Golden Oreos, Mint and Birthday Cake Oreos and they were all amazing.
  • Oil. You can also use canola oil because it has a high smoke point.
  • Vanilla Extract. You can also add a teaspoon vanilla extract to the pancake batter.

Storage

Container: Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Refrigerate: Keep in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Reheat: Warm in the oven or air fryer at 350°F to crisp them up.

Avoid Microwaving: It makes them soft and soggy.

Best Fresh: These are tastiest the day they’re made.

Pro Tips

  • Heat the Oil Properly: Make sure your oil reaches 350°F before frying so the batter cooks evenly and doesn’t soak up too much oil.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: Fry a few Oreos at a time to keep the oil hot and ensure even cooking.
  • Chill the Cookies: For a firmer center, refrigerate the Oreos for 10–15 minutes before dipping them in batter.
  • Use a Thick Batter: Your pancake batter should be slightly thick, so it coats the Oreos well without dripping off.
  • Flip Gently: Turn the cookies halfway through frying to get a perfectly golden exterior.
  • Drain on Paper Towels: This keeps them crisp and removes excess oil.
  • Serve Warm: Deep Fried Oreos are best enjoyed fresh while the center is soft and melty.
  • Add Powdered Sugar Last: Dust them right before serving so it doesn’t melt into the cookie.
