Ingredients

- Unsalted butter – Softened at room temperature to blend smoothly into the batter and create a rich, chewy texture.
- Dark brown sugar – Adds deep molasses flavor and extra moisture. You can use a Homemade Brown Sugar Recipe if preferred.
- Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla works best for rich, aromatic flavor throughout the bars.
- Flour – Be sure to spoon the flour into your measuring cup rather than scooping to avoid packing in too much.
- Eggs – Use room temperature eggs for better mixing and a more even bake.
- White chocolate chips – Choose a good-quality white chocolate for the best taste and creamy pockets in every bite.

Additions and Variations
- Change the chocolate chips – Swap white chocolate chips for butterscotch chips, dark chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for a twist on the classic blondie recipe.
- Add nuts – Classic blondies often include nuts; try mixing in chopped walnuts, pecans, or your favorite nuts for extra crunch.
- Orange zest – Add a teaspoon of fresh orange zest for a bright, citrusy twist.
- Cinnamon – A teaspoon of cinnamon adds warmth and a cozy flavor that’s always popular.
- Dried fruit – Chopped dried cherries or cranberries make a delicious, chewy addition to the batter.
- Cake flour – For a lighter, more cake-like texture, substitute cake flour for all-purpose flour.
- Caramel syrup – Drizzle caramel syrup over the finished blondies for an extra layer of sweetness and gooey goodness.
- Gluten-free option – Use a gluten-free flour blend as a 1:1 replacement for all-purpose flour to make these blondies gluten free.
Step By Step Instructions
- Step 1. Prepare Oven and Baking Pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 X 13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray or parchment paper. I suggest using a glass pan instead of a metal pan.

Step 2. Beat together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3. Mix until well combined.

Step 4. Then add in the eggs and vanilla extract.

Step 5. Mix together until well blended.

Step 6. Get out a separate bowl. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, cornstarch and salt.

Step 7. Next, stir in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

Step 8. Combine by hand until just combined. Be careful that you do not over mix.

Step 9. Then fold in the white chocolate chips.

Step 10. Mix together by hand using a wooden spoon.

Step 11. Finally, spread the batter into the prepared pan. Try to smooth the batter into an even layer with a rubber spatula.

Step 12. Bake for 25 minutes to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 13. Allow to cool and cut into squares.

Pro Tips
- Use parchment paper – Lining your baking dish with parchment paper makes cleanup easier and allows you to lift the blondies out of the pan effortlessly for neat cutting.
- Cool on a wire rack – A wire rack helps blondies cool evenly and completely. It’s especially useful if you want to remove the blondies from the pan before slicing.
- Avoid overmixing – Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can lead to dense or tough blondies.
- Watch baking time carefully – Blondies can go from perfectly chewy to overbaked quickly. Start checking for doneness around 20 minutes and remove from the oven when the edges are set but the center still looks slightly soft.
- Choose the right pan size – This recipe works well in a 9×13-inch pan for classic thickness. Use an 8 x 8-inch pan if you prefer thicker, fudgier blondies.
- Opt for dark brown sugar – Dark brown sugar adds richer flavor and moisture compared to light brown sugar, enhancing the overall taste and texture.
- Let blondies cool completely – For clean cuts and the best texture, allow blondies to cool fully before slicing.
- Use room temperature ingredients – Room temperature butter and eggs blend more smoothly, helping to create a uniform batter.
- Store properly – Keep blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week to maintain freshness.
Storage
Room Temperature: Store blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. This keeps them soft and chewy.
Refrigeration: To extend freshness, keep blondies covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Bring to room temperature before serving for the best texture.
Freezing: Blondies freeze well! Wrap individual pieces tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze for up to 3 months. To thaw, leave wrapped blondies at room temperature for a few hours or warm gently in the microwave.
Difference Between a Brownie And a Blondie?
The main difference between a brownie and a blondie lies in their key ingredients and flavor. Brownies are chocolate-based, typically made with cocoa powder or melted chocolate, giving them a rich, fudgy, and deep chocolate flavor.
Blondies, on the other hand, contain no cocoa or chocolate (except sometimes mix-ins like chips) and are flavored primarily with brown sugar and vanilla, resulting in a lighter, buttery, caramel-like taste.
Texture-wise, both can be chewy or cakey depending on the recipe, but blondies tend to have a more caramelized sweetness because of the brown sugar.

The ingredient list calls for 3 eggs. The directions say to add the eggs, the egg yolk…. So, is it 3 whole eggs plus another yolk or is it 2 whole eggs and just the yolk of the third egg?
Jerri – I’m so sorry for the confusion. We used 3 whole eggs for this recipe. I’ll update the recipe card. Thank you!
