Ingredients

Ingredients for Unicorn dip - cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, whipped topping, pink, purple and blue food coloring, sprinkles.
  • Cream Cheese. Softened at room temperature. The texture will be smoother and easier to combine.
  • Powdered Sugar. Sift the powdered sugar to remove any lumps.
  • Vanilla Extract. Pure vanilla extract is best.
  • Whipped Topping. I used cool whip but store brand is fine.
  • Pink, Purple & Blue Food Coloring. You can use other colors if you prefer.
  • Multi-Color Sprinkles. Choose any sprinkles you love. I like to coordinate with the colors I am using. Rainbow sprinkles are also fun.

The entire ingredients can be found at the bottom of the page.

How to Make Unicorn Dip

Cream cheese and powdered sugar combined in a bowl.

Step 1. Combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar. I suggest using either a handheld mixer or stand mixer. Beat until light and fluffy.

Whipped cream folded into cream cheese mixture.

Step 2. Next, add the cool whip to the bowl.

Step 3. Fold in the whipped topping until combined.  Do not use an electric mixer for this step. The cool whip needs to be folded in by hand.

Dip divided into 3 separate bowls.

Step 4. Next, divide the mixture evenly into 3 small bowls.

Food coloring added to each bowl.

Step 5. Add food coloring to each of the bowls. Stir until each bowl is the desired color that you prefer.

Each color of Unicorn Dip layered in a serving bowl.

Step 6. Layer the dip in a large bowl. Just drop spoonfuls of each of the colored mixture into a serving bowl.  Make sure you alternate the colors.  Finally, carefully swirl the colors together with a knife and top with colorful sprinkles.

Dippers

  • Fresh fruit. Strawberries, apple slices, pineapple, cantaloupe and more.
  • Graham crackers. Break these into sticks. Try regular or chocolate.
  • Animal crackers. Plain, chocolate or iced animal crackers make great options.
  • Vanilla wafers
  • Shortbread cookies

Storage

Refrigerate the dip in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Pro Tips

  • Layer the different colors. Don’t stir the dip or it will not be as pretty. Instead, layer each color of dip for a gorgeous look. Swirling the colors together will make this perfectly blended.
  • Food Coloring. You can substitute any color you prefer in this dip. It would be cute to match to a theme or season.
  • Sprinkles. Any type of sprinkles can be used in this recipe. Feel free to use your favorite.
  • Softened cream cheese. The dip is easier to combine with softened cream cheese. It will also make the texture smooth and creamy.
  • Fold in the whipped topping. Do not use a mixer to combine the whipped cream. This needs to be mixed together by hand. Just gently fold the cool whip into the cream cheese mixture.
