Variations and Substitutions
- Substitute coconut milk or cashew milk for the almond milk.
- If you are not concerned with this being a dairy free treat, you can use regular milk.
- Use frozen bananas in this recipe if you have them. I often freeze bananas that are getting too ripe, so they don’t waste. This recipe is perfect to use for that. The riper the bananas, the better for this recipe.
- Increase the amount of honey if you prefer a sweeter treat.
- Maple Syrup can be used instead of honey to sweeten the popsicles.
- Add 2 tablespoons peanut butter to the mixture in the blender. If you love peanut butter, this combination will be amazing with the chocolate and banana.
- Make these sugar free and omit using sweetener. If you use ripe bananas, they will be sweeter and you may not even need it.
- Mix in a handful of chocolate chip morsels into the mixture. If adding this mix in, fold it in by hand after blending the other ingredients.
- Drizzle melted chocolate on top of the popsicles once frozen. Just melt the chocolate and drizzle on each popsicle. You can also add sprinkles. Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and put back in the freezer until set.

It takes a minimum of 3 hours. However, I prefer to let them freeze overnight. This ensures they are frozen solid.
Homemade popsicles last up to 6 weeks. You can extend this time by placing them inside an airtight container or bag for storage. I like to separate the banana pops with parchment paper.
This will help to prevent freezer burn and prolong how long the popsicles can be stored.
You can make them using small paper cups. Just pour the mixture into the cups and place a popsicle stick in it. Freeze as normal.
