My kids go crazy over popsicles but the real fruit ones are expensive. I decided to make some at home to save money.

The results? Everyone loved these mango popsicles. They were super easy to make and turned out fantastic. I also make the kids Cherry Pineapple Popsicles and Lemon Lime Popsicles.

Why This Recipe Works

I like knowing exactly what is in the popsicles. You won’t find any hidden ingredients or hard to pronounce words in these popsicles.

I doubt I will ever buy store bought again. Not only did this recipe save my family money but they tasted great.

It was a big hit with everyone and the best summer treat. I love when I find something the entire family enjoys and it’s healthier than ice cream.

Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe: mango, honey, lime, water.
  • Diced Mango. Diced into small pieces so it will be easier to blend.
  • Honey. This gives the popsicles the perfect amount of sweetness.
  • Lime. Fresh lime juice gives the recipe the best flavor.

The complete ingredient list and recipe can be found at the bottom.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Try other types of fruit instead of mango. Some delicious ideas include: pineapple, strawberry and watermelon.
  • Use different shapes of popsicle molds for fun treats.
  • Add ½ cup yogurt for a creamy popsicle. Greek yogurt would also add protein. The mixture may need to be thinned out with a little water or milk.
  • Omit the honey. If you prefer to not add sweetener, just leave out the honey.
  • You can use ice cube trays. No worries if you do not have popsicle molds. You can freeze the mixture in ice cube trays. Another idea is to use a small paper cup to freeze the popsicles in.
  • Mix different types of fruit. Strawberry and mango taste amazing. We also like blueberries, blackberries and kiwi with mango.
  • Substitute coconut milk for water. The flavor is amazing and makes it so creamy without any extra work. This creamy mango popsicle is so tasty.
  • Maple syrup is another good option instead of honey.
  • Lemon juice can also be used in this recipe. It is a good substitute for lime juice.
  • Tajin or Chili Powder. Add a little spice and add one of these to the mango puree.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do homemade popsicles keep in the freezer?

They will last for 2 to 3 months in the freezer.   Keep the popsicles in the molds in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy them.

Our family eats these pretty fast.

How long does it take for the popsicles to freeze?

It takes about 4 to 6 hours for the ice pop to completely freeze. I prefer to let them freeze overnight.

Should I use fresh or frozen mango?

You can use either one you prefer or have on hand. Just make sure to thaw it first if using frozen mango chunks.

If using fresh mango, it is really important to make sure the fruit is ripe. You absolutely do not want to use fruit that is not ripe enough. Ripe mangos are a must.

The popsicles will not taste the same. Also, sometimes frozen fruit isn’t as ripe as fresh and can be less sweet. You might find you need more sweetener if using frozen.
This is based on preference so feel free to adjust the honey as needed.
