Everyone was so excited once I learned how to make funnel cakes at home. Game changer! Today, I am going to show you how to make funnel cake bites!

They are similar to Funnel Cake Fries Recipe but in smaller bite sizes pieces. It’s so much fun making your favorite fair food and the kids also love Deep Fried Honey Buns. You can also try 33 Best Funnel Cake Recipes.

What does funnel cake taste like?

It consists of delicious deep fried batter that is similar to donuts but a somewhat lighter texture. It’s a delicious dessert topped with powdered sugar.

How to make funnel cake bites

Step 1. First, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Once the dry ingredients are combined, set aside.

Step 2. Get out another mixing bowl and mix together the wet ingredients. Once the milk and eggs are combined, slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

Pan with hot oil and batter.

Step 3. Next, add oil to your pan and heat on medium heat until the oil is hot. This normally takes about 2 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Drop the funnel cake batter by the spoonful into the hot oil.

Step 4. Finally, line a plate with paper towels and put the bites on the plate. Top with powdered sugar right away. These are best served warm.

Funnel cake topping or dipping sauce ideas

Try some of these other ideas for toppings. You can also use some of these ideas for dipping if you would rather not put it on top of the dessert.

  • Powdered sugar – this is the traditional topping and still one of my favorites!
  • Cinnamon and sugar- Mix this together and sprinkle on top.
  • Ice cream and hot fudge– Put several in a bowl and top with ice cream and fudge. Yum! This is so good.
  • chocolate syrup and whipped cream- I like to put chocolate sauce in a ramekin and dip them in it.
  • fruit – Strawberries and blueberries are delicious on top. Go ahead and add some whipped cream too.
  • Strawberry sauce– this is delicious!
  • Pie filling- You can either put them in a bowl and top with pie filling or use the pie filling as a dipping sauce. We like apple, cherry and blueberry pie filling with whipped cream

Funnel Cake Fries are best served fresh as soon as you cook them.

How to store leftovers?

Place inside an airtight container. Line with wax paper in the bottom. Reheat in the air fryer or oven so they will be crispy.

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients: milk and 2 large eggs.
  • Slow stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until the mixture is smooth.
  • Heat up vegetable oil in a sauce pan. You will want to line the bottom of the pan with approximately 2″ of oil. Heat on medium heat until the oil is hot (2-4 minutes).
  • Drop the batter by the spoonfuls into the hot oil
  • Fry each side of the funnel cake bites until they are golden brown (60-90 seconds per side).
  • Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel line plate.
  • Dust with powder sugar immediately and serve warm.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining batter until all the funnel cakes are created.
  • Enjoy!

    Can you perhaps make these in an air fryer?

      I haven’t tested that yet so I’m not sure. I think that this batter would be too runny for the air fryer, so I’m thinking this recipe wouldn’t work. If you try it out, let us know how it turns out!
