Homemade ice cream is the best. It is seriously one of my weaknesses and I love trying to make new flavors. All of my kids love Oreo cookies so this Cookies and Cream ice cream recipe seemed like the perfect one to try.

You don’t need any fancy gadgets or even an ice cream maker. With only 4 ingredients, you can make this super easy ice cream from scratch. It is SO easy and better than store bought.

Let the kids help and enjoy that time together. We love making ice cream together and it always turn out so yummy!

Ingredients: 

  • sweetened condensed milk 
  • Vanilla Extract
  • heavy whipping cream – cold
  • Oreo Cookies

How to make cookies and cream ice cream:

First, you need to crush the Oreo cookies. You do not want the cookies finely crushed so I would not use a food processor. Just place the Oreo Cookies in a large ziplock bag and seal it tightly. 

Take a wooden spoon or rolling pin and crush the cookies. The cookies need to be chunky and you want large pieces for the ice cream.

Next, get a large bowl and mix together the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Once this is mixed together, set aside.

Get another bowl and add the heavy whipping cream. Use a stand mixer or hand held mixer to beat this until it starts to hold stiff peaks. It normally only takes 2 to 3 minutes for this to happen.

Add the whipped cream very gently to the sweetened condensed milk mixture until it is mixed together really good. Be careful not to over mix.

Finally, add the crushed cookies by folding them in by hand.

Spread the ice cream mixture into a pan. We used a 9 inch loaf pan and it worked perfectly. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 6 hours.

Tips for homemade cookies and cream ice cream:

  • Make this the day before you plan to eat it. This will allow plenty of time for it to reach the desired consistency.
  • This cookies and cream ice cream will last up to 3 months stored in the freezer. We love it so ours is usually gone much quicker.
  • Mixer – I really like my kitchen aid stand mixer but a hand mixer is great too for this ice cream recipe.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream cold
  • 10 Oreo Cookies

Instructions

  • Place the Oreo Cookies in a large ziplock bag.  Seal it tightly.  Use a wooden spoon to crush the cookies. You do not want them finely crushed, you want them crushed into large pieces for the ice cream.
  • Then mix together the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  • Pour the heavy whipping cream into a separate bowl and mix with a stand up mixer or hand held mixer for 2-3 minutes until it holds stiff peaks.
  • Gently stir the whipped cream into the sweetened milk mixture until well combined and be careful not to over mix.  Then fold in the Oreo cookies.
  • Then spread the mixture in a 9 in loaf pan.  Cover with foil and freeze for at least 6 hours.
  • Then scoop out with an ice cream scoop and enjoy!

I usually make this recipe the night before we’re going to enjoy it. This ice cream will last up to 3 months stored in the freezer.
