Why We Love This Recipe

Once you try this, everyone will be hooked on this tasty frosting. We love to make strawberry, watermelon, lime and many other delicious combinations. My family also loves Oreo Frosting and Strawberry Buttercream Frosting.

We love to make Jello frosting because it is so much lighter than a traditional buttercream frosting. It is sweet but not overly sweet and it’s not too heavy.

Ingredients for Jello frosting - jello, egg whites, vanilla.

Ingredients

  • Jello. You can use any flavor.
  • Egg White. You only need the egg whites.
  • Vanilla Extract. Pure vanilla extract is best.

How to Use Jello Frosting

  • Cupcakes. This frosting will make enough to frost approximately 24 cupcakes.
  • Cake. You can frost a 9X13 cake recipe with this frosting.
  • Poke Cake. This frosting is light and not too heavy making it perfect to use on a poke cake.
  • Filling. This frosting would also be a delicious filling inside cupcakes.

Pair your favorite flavor icing with your favorite type of cake. Some ideas include lemon jello frosting with chocolate cupcakes, strawberry frosting with strawberry cupcakes and so many other luscious combinations.

Expert Tips

  • Sugar Free Jello. Try substituting regular jello for the sugar free version to reduce the sugar.
  • Made in advance. Since this frosting will not hold up long term, it is best to prepare the cupcakes only in advance. Then make the frosting and pipe when ready to enjoy.
  • Egg whites. If you are concerned with the egg white, the boiling water is sufficient in the recipe so that you are not consuming raw eggs.
  • Mixer. The texture of the frosting is best using an electric mixer. This results in the best consistency that is light and fluffy and absolutely delicious.
  • Double the recipe. This recipe is enough for 24 cupcakes or a 9×13 sheet cake. If you want to do a layer cake or pipe any extra layers or edges, I suggest doubling the recipe.
