Vibrant and easy Jello Frosting made with just 4 ingredients. Perfect for adding color, flavor, and a sweet, fluffy finish to cakes, cupcakes, and desserts.

Jello Frosting is a fun, vibrant twist on classic frosting that adds both color and flavor to your cakes and cupcakes. Made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s easy to whip up, spreads smoothly, and is perfect for creating festive desserts that everyone will love.
Whether for a birthday, holiday, or just because, this frosting makes any treat extra special. We love to make Jello frosting because it is so much lighter than a traditional Buttercream Frosting. It is sweet but not overly sweet and it’s not too heavy.
It is an easy way to transform frosting into any color you need to match your theme and the flavor of your choice. We also love to make Jello Cookies Recipe and Lime Jello Cake. If you have leftover jello, try Sour Candy Grapes and Sour Patch Grapes, Jello Parfait, Jello Popcorn Balls and Broken Glass Jello.
We also love to make Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting.

How To Make Jello Frosting

Step 1. Get out a large bowl. Place the Jello mixture, sugar, egg white and vanilla extract in the large mixing bowl. Mix until well combined on medium speed. I like to use my stand mixer. You can use any flavor, but we used cherry.

Step 2. Boil water and add to the mixture. Combine until the frosting is fluffy with stiff peaks. Then the frosting is ready to use.
Storage
Room Temperature: Jello Frosting is best used immediately. If left at room temperature for more than a couple of hours, it may start to weep or lose its structure.
Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. Before using, gently fold or whip it again to restore its fluffy texture.
Avoid Freezing: Freezing is not recommended, as the texture will break down and become watery once thawed.
Use Quickly: For the best color, flavor, and consistency, frost your desserts soon after making the frosting.
How To Use Jello Frosting
- Cupcakes. This frosting will make enough to frost approximately 24 cupcakes.
- Cake. You can frost a 9X13 cake recipe with this frosting.
- Poke Cake. This frosting is light and not too heavy making it perfect to use on a poke cake.
- Filling. This frosting would also be a delicious filling inside cupcakes.
Pair your favorite flavor icing with your favorite type of cake. Some ideas include lemon jello frosting with chocolate cupcakes, strawberry frosting with strawberry cupcakes and so many other luscious combinations.
Expert Tips
- Sugar-Free Option: Swap regular Jello for sugar-free Jello to reduce sugar without sacrificing flavor or color.
- Make Just Before Serving: Since Jello Frosting doesn’t hold up long-term, prepare your cupcakes or cake in advance, but pipe the frosting right before serving for the best results.
- Egg White Safety: The boiling water in the recipe is enough to safely cook the egg whites, so there’s no need to worry about consuming raw eggs.
- Use an Electric Mixer: For the lightest, fluffiest texture, beat the frosting with an electric mixer rather than by hand.
- Adjust Recipe Size: This recipe makes enough to frost 24 cupcakes or a 9×13-inch sheet cake. Double the recipe if making a layered cake or decorating edges and designs.
- Consistency Check: If the frosting seems too soft, let it chill for a few minutes and then whip again before piping.
- Experiment with Flavors: Mix different Jello flavors for fun, multi-colored frosting or seasonal-themed desserts.
