Substitutions and Additions
- Coating. You can also use white candy melts, white chocolate chips or dark chocolate.
Step By Step Instructions
- Step 1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2. Crush the Oreo cookies in a food processor. They should be fine crumbs.
Step 3. Next, combine the cream cheese and crushed Oreos until well blended. Save some of the crushed cookies for topping.
Step 4. Make the balls and put on the cookie sheet. Then put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Step 5. While the Oreo Balls are chilling, melt the almond bark inside a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals. You will need to stir after each interval until the bark is completely melted. Then stick a lollipop stick into each Oreo ball.
Step 6. Then dip into the melted almond bark.
Step 7. Place the stick of each cake pop in a block of Styrofoam. Sprinkle the reserved Oreo cookie crumbs immediately and allow the candy coating to dry. Allow to sit at room temperature until the almond bark has set. Then serve!
Storage
Store the leftover cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Pro Tips
- Regular Oreos work best. If the cookies have too much cream, they won’t stay together very good.
- Use a cookie scoop to make the balls. This ensures they are all the same size and not too big. Cake Balls that are too big will fall off the stick.
- Freeze before coating. Don’t skip this step. It helps make the process easier and they look smoother.
- Remove excess chocolate. Gently shake off any excess chocolate before placing upright in the Styrofoam.
- Toppings. This is optional but if adding sprinkles, nuts or anything extra, add before the coating dries.
- Softened cream cheese. In order to mix the ingredients, the cream cheese needs to be very soft. Otherwise, the filling will be hard to combine and not smooth.
