What are S’mores?

S’mores are a popular campfire treat that is usually made over an open fire. The marshmallow is roasted and then placed on a graham cracker that has been topped with a chocolate bar.

The roasted marshmallow makes the chocolate melt to create a gooey melty chocolate treat.

How to Make Deep Fried S’mores

  • Step 1 – Prepare Oil – Heat 3 inches of oil for frying in a deep pot.

Step 2. Combine Pancake Batter Ingredients. Just mix until most of the lumps are gone.  Let the batter rest for 5 minutes.

Step 3. Assemble the s’mores by breaking the graham crackers in half.  Place one half of the graham cracker down and place a marshmallow on top, then top with half of a chocolate bar and another graham cracker square.  Continue this process until all the s’mores are assembled.

Step 4. Then coat the s’mores by dipping them in the batter with tongs.  Gently shake to remove an excess batter from the s’mores.

Step 5. Then use the tongs to dip the battered s’mores into the frying oil in the deep fryer.  Cook for 3-4 minutes in the oil until golden brown.- Carefully remove the fried s’more from the hot oil with a slotted spoon and place on a plate lined with a paper towel to soak up the excess oil.

  • Step 6 – Serve and enjoy – Let the s’mores cool for 5-10 minutes and then they are ready to serve and enjoy.

How to Serve?

Fried s’mores are best served warm as the graham crackers become soggy when they are stored.

We recommend dusting the tops with powdered sugar for the extra sweetness.

Storage

These deep fried s’mores are best served warm. If you have leftovers, store them in the refrigerator. The graham cracker will be a little soggy, but you can put them in air fryer to crisp them up again.

Pro Tips

  • Heat Oil – Heat the oil to approximately 375 degrees F before frying the s’mores in the oil.
  • Chocolate Chips – If you do not have any chocolate bars, top the graham crackers with chocolate chips. They will melt perfectly when deep fried.
  • Marshmallows – We used large marshmallows instead of the mini marshmallows. We think the larger marshmallows work better.
  • Choosing Oil – Make sure when choosing the oil that it has a high smoke point. We recommend using vegetable oil or canola oil. If you a low smoke point oil it could cause the s’mores to taste funny.
