Why This Recipe Works

  • Only 4 ingredients. You only need a few ingredients.
  • Sweet and salty. It is the best combination.
  • Inexpensive to make. The recipe uses budget friendly ingredients. It’s perfect for kids or to give as gifts.
Ingredients for recipe - chocolate chips, candy melts, hearts and sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips. You can use milk chocolate, but it will be sweeter. Just make sure to use a good quality chocolate like Ghirardelli. Chocolate chips are cheaper than using chocolate bars.
  • Pastel pink candy melts. I like to use Wilton candy melts. You can also use vanilla candy coating or red candy melts.
  • Conversation Hearts. These are so cute with the different sayings.
  • Valentine’s Day Sprinkles. This is for topping and makes it festive.

The entire list of ingredients for this candy bark recipe can be found at the bottom of the post.

Variations

  • White chocolate chips. Try using white chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer the taste.
  • Oreos. Crumble Oreo Cookies on top of the bark to make Oreo Bark.
  • Candy. Try red hots or anything you love on top of the Valentine bark. Valentine M&M candy would be pretty.
  • Nuts. Sprinkle chopped pecans, walnuts, almonds or peanuts on the chocolate.
  • Pretzels. Break pretzels into pieces and sprinkle on top.

Recipe Tips

  • Swirling the chocolate. You don’t want to swirl them too much or they will completely mix together, and you will lose the swirled look.
  • Topping. The Valentine’s sprinkles and red or pink melting chocolates are optional but so pretty and festive!
  • Microwave Safe Bowls. Make sure that you are using a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Lined Baking Sheet. Prepare the pan with foil or parchment paper to make it easier to lift out.
  • Good quality chocolate. With so few ingredients and the dessert mostly chocolate, use good chocolate! You will taste the difference.
