How to Make Marshmallow Frosting

Step 1 – First, beat the butter and powdered sugar mixture until fluffy in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer. You want this to be mixed together really well.

Step 2 – Second, add the marshmallow fluff and vanilla. It is best to mix this part by hand.
Step 3 – That is it! You can add the milk if it is too thick to get to the consistency you prefer. If you need to add the milk, start with a tablespoon and add more as needed.
Step 4 – Finally, put the frosting in a piping bag and decorate your cupcakes. You can also use this on a cake if you would rather do that.
Expert Tips
- Piping bag for cupcakes– I like to use a disposable decorator bag and just toss it when finished. One less thing to clean up and the cupcakes look fancy.
- Stand mixer– I love my stand mixer to beat the powdered sugar and butter with the whisk attachment. It sure makes it easier. Just remember to add the marshmallow fluff and vanilla by hand.
- Consistency – Add more powdered sugar if your frosting is too runny. Likewise, you can add more milk if it is too thick. Just make sure to add both of these in small increments.
- Serving – This frosting is best served the day you decorate the cupcakes or cake.
