Storage

Refrigerate the leftover fudge in an airtight container for up to 1 week.  Let the fudge sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes to soften some and then it’s ready to enjoy!

I suggest placing wax paper in between the layers of fudge to prevent sticking. It makes it easier to handle.

Can You Freeze Fudge?

Yes, this recipe is freezer friendly. Place the squares of fudge inside a freezer container. You can use layers of wax paper in between the fudge to make it easy to grab a couple of squares.

If stored properly, fudge can be frozen up to 3 months. This is perfect for the holidays when you have a long baking list. Feel free to make this ahead of time and then take out of the freezer when ready to serve.

Make sure to allow sufficient time for the fudge to thaw. I like to place it in the fridge to thaw overnight.

Another option is to place on the counter for about 2 hours. This should give it enough time to thaw and have the creamy fudge consistency we all love and enjoy.

Recipe Tips

  • Hot chocolate. You can use cocoa mixture instead of the hot chocolate mix if you prefer in this recipe.
  • Double Boiler. Also, you can use a double boiler over medium low heat to melt the chocolate instead of the microwave.
  • Marshmallows. Dehydrated Marshmallows can be used for the topping if you would rather. Just keep in mind they will be crunchier and not soft as traditional marshmallows.
  • Stir continuously. It’s important to melt the fudge in intervals and stir. You don’t want to burn it.
