Homemade ice cream is really easy to make, and this Churro variety is delicious. The ice cream base is so rich and creamy. It’s really easy and we also make Homemade Butterfinger Ice Cream and Dulce De Leche Ice Cream.

It is a simple no churn recipe without any ice cream maker needed. The recipe only calls for a few ingredients and very little prep work. It has all the flavor of Churro Bites and Churro Cupcakes. What does churro ice cream taste like?

It is loaded with cinnamon flavor and pieces of chopped churros. You can use store bought or homemade churros.

Each bite is layered with so much goodness for the best treat. The dulce de leche makes it so decadent. This is definitely a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients

Ingredients for churro ice cream - sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, churros, cream.
  • Sweetened condensed milk. This gives the ice cream its sweetness. Don’t substitute it for regular milk or skim milk.
  • Pure vanilla extract. Pure extract will result in a better flavor than imitation.
  • Chopped Churros. I like Homemade churros and Air Fryer Churros but you can use store bought. They are so easy to make using a star tip in a piping bag.

How to make Churro Ice cream

Bowl of sweetened condensed milk and vanilla and cinnamon.

Step 1. Get out a large mixing bowl. Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon together in a mixing bowl.

Bowl of heavy whipping cream beat until fluffy.

Step 2. Use a separate bowl and put the heavy whipping cream in it. Beat with a hand mixer for 3 to 5 minutes using medium to low speed or until stiff peaks are formed.

Step 5. Continue to pour and layer these ingredients in the pan until you run out of the ice cream mixture. It will make 3 5o 4 layers. Freeze the mixture. Cover the loaf pan and freeze for at least 6 hours. I like to chill overnight.

Step 6. Serve and enjoy. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired and crumble more churros.

How to serve

  • Waffle Cone. Scoop ice cream into cones for a kid favorite treat that is easy to eat with a spoon.
  • Waffle Bowls or regular bowls. If you prefer to use a bowl, load these up with ice cream.
  • Whipped cream. Top the ice cream with Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe. You can also use store bought.
  • Ice cream sandwiches. Use two Snickerdoodle Cookies and place ice cream between them to create an ice cream sandwich.
  • Cinnamon Sugar. Sprinkle a teaspoon of cinnamon sugar on top to garnish. You can use cane sugar or brown sugar for natural flavors.
  • Topping. Drizzle Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe on top.
  • Cake. Serve it with Cinnamon Roll Poke Cake.

Pro Tips

  • Before serving, let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes. Then place scoops of ice cream into cones or bowls as desired.
  • I place my mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before whipping the cream to help whip it quicker.   This helps a lot so do not skip this step.
  • Start with heavy whipping cream that has been chilled. This will make it easier to beat into the proper texture.

Storage

Store covered in the freezer. I suggest placing parchment paper directly on top of the ice cream. Then cover tightly in plastic wrap.

This should help the ice cream stay fresh and prevent ice crystals from forming on top. It will last up to 1 month.
